This machine may be more familiar to you under the name Bobcat or just plain and simple a skid loader. 1. Versatility: The majority of the time, these machines are purchased not for one job that it performs day in and day out, but for a wide variety of jobs. Bobcats become that handy machine on the jobsite that you grab when you need to move around a pallet of brick or sweep up a driveway at the conclusion of a project, and to get materials quickly from one place to another. Keep in mind that this machine will be widely used for a variety of tasks that you may not even be able to think of before you have the machine sitting on your jobsite.
2. Size: A skid steer is one of the smallest machines you will see on a jobsite. This is another reason why it is so popular. For example, landscapers who need to get in-between houses are able to get much more work done because instead of 3-4 employees moving material they can still use this machine to move material much faster and easier because of its size. If you think about it today, most of our world is developed and a lot of jobs are now new construction but re-construction and you will be working in tighter and tighter places. Your productivity will go up if you can get a machine into that tight space to do the work you need to complete.
3. Transportability: The final reason why so many contractors have a skid steer because it is extremely easy to transport from job to job. These machines can be towed behind a one ton truck. There is no special permitting or license that needs to be had. It’s always a good idea to check the laws in your state to see what the weight and size limitations are for towing.
